Germany working on 'Marshall Plan' for Ukraine - parliament deputy

Germany is working on a 'Marshall Plan' for Ukraine, Karl-Georg Wellmann, head of the German-Ukrainian parliamentary group and German parliament member, has said.

"We have been working on a new strategy for Ukraine's stabilization and development together with the Ukrainians. With much greater financial and political efforts. This is something new, and it will supplement the Association Agreement," Wellmann said in an interview with the newspaper Segodnya.

The new strategy "is just being elaborated, it has not been incorporated into official policy," he said.

Lithuania joins Ukraine and Poland in space cooperation

Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania will cooperate in the space sector within joint trilateral format.

During the meeting of the Ukrainian-Lithuanian working group on space sector cooperation, the parties agreed to expand the existing bilateral Ukrainian-Polish working group on space to trilateral format, including Lithuania, the press service of the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) said.

The SSAU said that Lithuania joined the Ukrainian-Polish space cooperation team under the Ukrainian initiative, which was earlier coordinated this with the Polish side.

Hepatitis A outbreak in Kyiv

Kyiv is going through a record outbreak of hepatitis A: about 300 people are sick.

The overall incidence rate the current year increased by 23-25%, compared to previous year. The incidence of hepatitis A in children actually increased twice. It is the biggest outbreak in 8 years, since 2006.

According to the doctors, this year the residents of Left bank of Dnieper are under biggest risk. Most of the cases are recorded in Dniprovsky, Desnyansky and Darnytsky districts.

Ukraine cuts Russian gas consumption threefold - Gazprom

OAO Gazprom has increased its gas exports to non-CIS countries by 41.36%, while Ukraine has reduced the consumption of Russian gas almost threefold.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said this to journalists, the Neftegaz.RU Intl news agency reports.

"By the end of October, the Gazprom's exports to the non-CIS rose by 41.36%. At the same time, Ukraine reduced the consumption of Russian gas threefold," Miller said.

According to the Gazprom CEO, the reason for Ukraine’s consumption cuts is the financial deficit of the Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Yatsenuk: We have stored more natural gas than the last year

The natural gas storage facilities in Ukraine have accumulated 17 billion cubic meters of gas, but it is essential to purchase nearly five billion more.

Poroshenko wants to make English the second official language in Ukraine
