Saturday morning, June 28th, Kyiv is so quiet and nice. Hardly any cars in the streets and few people around. What has happened? A long weekend with Monday off for most - and reportedly half of Kyiv is on their way to Odessa beaches for the weekend. Be aware of heavy traffic and crowded beaches in Odessa - Enjoy Kyiv - you have it almost for yourself for a few days - no lines at Puzata Hata and quiet parks in sunny weather. Grin

They will inject some cash in the Odessa economy too  Wink Still I am happy to have a quiet weekend in Kyiv - almost all for myself it feels like. Need more holiday weekends like this or perhaps half of Kyiv should just move down to Odessa and stay there?  Grin

They are not all in Odessa or Moscow for that matter.

Every holiday its the same thing, an exodus to the provinces of Ukraine, it really hits you how many people living in Kiev do not hail from Kiev. Its the best times of the year for me, metro quiet and all the bars and restaraunts alot more comfortable and the roads are clear.

Out of my friends, one is in Ivano Frankovsk, one is in Lugansk, one is in Cherkassy, one is in Lviv and one is Rovne at the moment, train tickets are impossible to get for anywhere in Ukraine this weekend!!!

I just had a walk through the city center this afternoon in Odessa and indeed there were a lot of red baked people walking around. I guess they must be from Kyiv.
