My god I didnt think there was still any foreigners living in Ukraine who didnt know the score on these agencies,they are purely aimed at people who believe the myth that these girls are genuine (in most cases they are no more than photos) and also aimed at people who dont know the 1st thing about Ukraine and think all the girls want foreigners.
I am sure they do change the photos every day but what does that prove?
My work colleague worked for such an agency for 8 months and the stories are shocking, not so much what the agency did but more the willingness of so many men to part with their cash on the back of a photo of someone they have never met and in many cases never will meet.

are you high on booze? what agencies are you talking about? i have never used one... whats your point? confused  PS. anyway i want to tell sth about Anastasia since they seem to be the most world famous. When in Odessa I met this 49yo American with a salary of 93.000$ per year. He was on a wife hunt and supported by Anastasia. I asked him lots of stuff and by the end he told me he has the following feelings: "some of the girls I am meeting I think they are really not interested in marriage and probably WORK for the agency". I told him "how comes? is not Anastasia a serious business?". The american told me "yes it is, but Anastasia has lots of partner small agencies and they cant check the all of them". The same night I had this talk I remember spotting one of the "Anastasia" girl working as a prostitute in a bar. Do you think this is possible? |

You should not generalize too much but yes the agencies are a business for sure, you can also check out the warnings posted on the US Embassy website in Kyiv about this business. All this said, it is a contact source - nothing more. You have to take it for what it is. A few are more genuine than others but no better or worse than those who use them. In Ukraine Anastasiaweb are among the best, but consists of a network of local agencies, just like a franchise. It is a business for them to write letters and provide interpreters but also sometimes a serious way of meeeting someone. You just continue directly via SMS and e-mail (mail.ru) when you have met someone and ship their expensive services. Most women look via different channels and screen men, if someone good shows up they can be serious, otherwise just courtesy extended due to the agency rules. So be aware.  |

Perhaps she was working there as an interpreter or just having a good time? what she was doing then? using her mobile phone compulsively and smiling at any foreigner entering the bar. and then shabby vulgar dresses. but during the day i have seen her walking with a wife-hunter and an interpreter |

Why would anyone foreign in Kiev need a "contact source" as you put it. If someone cant meet girls in Kiev without the aid of such dubious sources then there must be something far wrong with their social skills. Lets be frank here, single girls are not hard to find here in everyday situations and most people I know (myself included) could probably find a different one every week if we wanted to. I am sure local men wouldnt need such a service to find girls so "what is good for the goose is good for the gander" in my view  |

It weird as I had a former colleague who was an interpreter for 8 months for one of the biggest agencies in Kiev 4 years back, the picture she paints is a very different one from yours by the way! Going back to my point, they have all practically shut down in Kiev (Kyiv Post has no more than 3 ads these days as oppossed to 2 pages 5 years ago) so surely this is proof enough that the situation has changed! As for Kyiv, there are several around Kretchanik, but now run on computers out of several flats. I was also just talking about www.anastasiaweb.com. Another comment is also that women would like to screen the men. You are forgetting about them with your "social skill" assumptions. If you don't see anything when you make the rounds in Kyiv, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist anymore. As for the horror stories you might have heard from interpreters associated with some agencies, they are most likely true. I have heard a lot of them too and know the business. |
