I am pretty sure that if asked about the accomplishments of Yaroslavl Mudriy and why exactly he should be considered the greatest Ukrainian I would guarantee pretty much that like 80 % of people would not know. This whole thing in itself is quite controversial and to me is simply silly as how do you compare a football coach to a politician and poet or an 11th century ruler. Doesn’t make sense to me. The vote was rigged??? Of course...and that is why (in my opinion) - if Bendera won it would be too controversial and second reason I believe Yaroslav did not actually win is that he is too ancient of a figure for people to know and care about his accomplishments. Who cares...it's just a silly game. I do however think it has some positive effect as it might induce some to read up about their own history

Both Bandera and Melnyk feature in my "100 Velikykh Lyudei Ukrainy" book, which has been compiled by historians as opposed to being voted for, so surely there is no big plan to deny that they existed?

I think I should take the "who cares?" route too, Ukraine makes you look too deep into things.

All the people listed might be great in their own way but they all had "regional" importance. Was there one who had a greater-then -regional impact or importance??
