On location, keeping an eye on events

Having been away awhile watching the boys in action over in Portugal.  Grin
Thought it time to add my post on the current tensions between Russia & the West over
former Soviet territories.
Heres an interesting piece from the BBC News website, no doubt coinciding with
David Milibands visit to Kiev.  Smiley

Called - Testing for a new Cold War in Crimea:

Talking about territories - I wonder whether Ukraine has ever asked Russia to have
Taganrog back - as this used to be in the former Soviet Republic of Ukraine.

Thanks for that tidbit analysis Camp.  Although, I half-expected to read about the deployment of the Light Brigade though!

Moving on from the BBC's article on a possible New Cold War in Crimea - it looks the
BBC are 'upping the anti on the issue' by coming out with another article entitled
Alarm bells ring in Ukraine - ok I know the Crimea has its issues but to suggest that
events in Georgia could herald a domino effect of Russia taking back lost Soviet
territories - smacks of Cold War 'reds under the bed' journalism to me.

as for ecocks  . . . . . . . .

While chatting to the British high command in Portugal - their are rumours that the 95th Rifles could be deployed
to the Crimea for Sharpe the movie. But I hasten to add, this is nothing more than rumour and speculation.  Wink

Lt Campers, Sir,

I gave up on the idea the BBC was unbiased about the same time Blair came into power and the subsequent, highly publicised and wrongful sacking of it's then Director General who disagreed with him.  It has, ever since been politically biased one way or another depending on the mood of Government (unless the Government has no real view one way or another when it's stance goes back to the politically neutral where it always was traditionally).  It is a shame Sir Robin Day is no longer with us (despite the fact he would probably have resigned over what the BBC has become) as he was an interviewer who really knew how to put the politicians in their place and on the spot.
