Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez is available after a family bereavement kept him out of the draw with Newcastle on the opening day of the season.

Anderson will be back from the Olympics but may not be rushed into action, while John O'Shea may deputise for Michael Carrick, and Nani is banned.

Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar is a major doubt after picking up an injury playing for Croatia.

But Lassana Diarra has recovered from a knee injury suffered against Chelsea.

Chelsea set to seal Robinho deal

It is now Expected that Robinho will Play Against Spurs this Weekend

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/7584770.stm

Robinho played a key role as Real won the Spanish title last season
Chelsea are close to signing Real Madrid forward Robinho, according to Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon.

"Everybody expected negotiations to go close to the wire and that's what it will do but we're confident it will happen," he told BBC London 94.9.

"There are no hitches it's just a lengthy process."

Reports have suggested that the 24-year-old Brazil international, who is contracted to Real until 2010, could cost the Blues about £30m.

Ankle surgery rules out Kranjcar
This is a Big Loss for Pompey,he is a Damn good Player.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/7584515.stm

Kranjcar is an integral part of Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp's plans
Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar is set to miss up to three months of the season after undergoing ankle surgery.

The 24-year-old ruptured ligaments on international duty for Croatia during their 3-2 win over Slovenia last week.

"He faces an estimated eight-to-12 weeks before being able to play first-team football again," read a statement on the club's website.

Kranjcar will now miss Croatia's crucial World Cup qualifier with England in Zagreb on 10 September.

The playmaker's absence is a huge blow for Portsmouth, who are currently bottom of the Premier League table having lost both of their matches this season.

Motta can be a Pompey hit
There may be Hope on the Horizon?

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/frattonlatest/Motta-can-be-a-Pompey.4429207.jp

Harry Redknapp was today urged: Sign Thiago Motta at all costs.
That's the verdict of Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who is convinced triallist Motta can be a Premier League hit.

The former Barcelona midfielder yesterday donned a Blues shirt for the first time in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Sunderland.

The Brazilian played the entire 90 minutes as Harry Redknapp's side ran out 1-0 winners through a late Hermann Hreidarsson header.

He now has the remainder of the week to clinch a permanent deal, with current club Athletico Madrid willing to let him leave.

Reported wage demands of £60,000 a week will be a stumbling block, while an injury dogged last few years have raised doubts over his fitness.

Even though we are owned by a Ukrainian multi-millionaire, £60,000 per week for us is a lot of money.  We used to have a wage cap for players.......has it gone now?  Huh Shocked

Ferguson cools Berbatov rumours

 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/7586497.stm

Berbatov is believed to have handed in a transfer request
Dimitar Berbatov's hopes of a move to Manchester United look to be fading after Sir Alex Ferguson said he was "less optimistic" about new signings.

The United boss, who had a £20.5m bid for the striker rejected, was uncertain whether he would boost his squad before the transfer window shuts on Monday.

"I'm less optimistic so we'll carry on," Ferguson said.

"I've no idea what's going on. It's very hard to get communication with some people in life."

Berbatov has made no secret of his desire to leave White Hart Lane but Tottenham are determined that their £30m price-tag will be met.

Man Utd 1-2 Zenit St Petersburg
This was an Enjoyable game last Night and it showed how Moderate Man Utd are this season,Without Ronaldo at least, they struggled to get a Shot on Target and ran out of idea`s.
Zenith were Underated by the British Public and the Bookies,Odds of 8/1 for Zenith to be Leading at Half-Time (it was 1-0) were Gratefully accepted by me Grin Grin Grin
They showed Great pace and Skills and it could have been 4 - 1 to them on a better day!.

 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/7584103.stm

Zenit celebrate with the trophy after an impressive win over Man Utd in Monaco

Manchester United's bid for European Super Cup glory ended in failure as Pavel Pogrebnyak and Danny goals earned Zenit St Petersburg a deserved win.

Fresher and more incisive throughout, Zenit took the lead when Pogrebnyak forced home a header from close range.

Playmaker Danny made it 2-0 with a fine solo goal on the hour, before Nemanja Vidic pulled one back from six yards.

It was too little too late, though, with Paul Scholes sent off late on in a lacklustre showing from United.

The midfielder saw red when he punched the ball into the net with only seconds left on the clock, earning himself a second booking and one-match European suspension that could see him sit out the Champions League group match against Villarreal.

It was a sorry end to the match for United, who had looked off the pace throughout.

With Zenit midway through the Russian season, the difference in sharpness between the sides was clearly evident, and Dick Advocaat's side showed they could well be a threat in this season's Champions League - even without Andrei Arshavin, who has been heavily linked with Spurs and who only played 45 minutes in Monaco.
