M&S
« on: August 14, 05:18 PM »

This evening I finally made it to the M&S store in Komod. I have been asked for some feedback on M&S here in Kiev so here it is.

I managed to buy 5 shirts, 3 white t shirts, 6 pairs of boxer shorts, 8 pairs of socks and a tie for about 1,200 UAH which is rather cheap. With regard to quality the shirts seem to be on a par with what I remember from the UK (but do bear in mind I haven't set foot in the UK for more than 10 years). In other words perfectly acceptable.

A 3 pack of standard M&S business type shirts is UAH 389 and they also have the usual selection of casual type shirts as well. Somewhat fortuitously M&S has a sale on at the moment so I was also able to get a couple more shirts with 60% off which was nice.

Someone posted in another thread about the appalling quality of socks here in Kiev. The good news here is that M&S sells decent cotton socks and if you are the type who has delicate feet they even have "posh" wool /cashmere socks. The cotton socks in a pack of 4 are UAH 169.

So there you go the range is a bit smaller than that which you would find in the UK but for the boring stuff, socks, boxer shorts, t shirts, work shirts in what appears to be decent quailty I would certainly recomend M&S in the Komod centre.

I am not usually this obsessed with clothes but you must bear in mind I only had a 20KG luggage allowance when I flew here so I didn't bring too much clothes with me. There was the small matter of my guitar and laptop as well. So to find a place selling decent stuff at acceptable prices is a rare treat here in Kiev.

The staff there were very helpful in digging out extra long armed shirts for me and tried to speak english which was appreciated. You also get a 5% disocunt card which is on top of the 60% off on the "sale"items.

I hope this comment is useful to those of you in need of socks etc...

Be happy

Joe

Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so the other half may reach you.

There you go, Joe. Seems the time afforded to me in my capacity as expatua pensioner certainly paid off. Next time you go, ask the manager if there are any plans to open a branch in Odessa!

Oh, and when you were there, did you check out the suits? I know you bought elsewhere but I saw locally tat Marks do sell suits for the taller gentleman! Further, the suits are available mix & match so that you can buy the jacket and trousers separately, thereby avoiding having a pair of trousers 4 or 5 inches to big round the waist. An extra pair of trousers? No problem with M&S!
