Hi,

Bit of a strange question this  bearing in mind I am a bloke and we blokes do not normally concern ourselves too much with the intricacies of clothes.

However ...

I need to buy a new suit as I work on the trading floor of a Ukrainian bank and the only one I have is looking a bit sad after wearing it every day to work for the last 4 months.

Does anyone have any advice on where I can buy a new suit at a sensible price. I have had a look at the Hugo Boss store but they all seem to be about $1,000+ there which is some 80% more than I used to pay for HB stuff in Germany.

Also I am need of some decent shirts preferably with the longer arm fitting.

The problem is I am 6`6" or 2m tall - any other ridiculously tall expats out there?

Only 6'2" so most is easily obtainable for me - sorry.  Silly question but do none of the EU brands/shops do "mail order" clothing on line?

Oh yes plenty of mail order stuff I suppose but have you ever bought a suit on mail order before?? I certainly wouldn`t. I really to try a suit on before I buy one - if they don`t fit properly I end up looking like a scarecrow which has the potential to create a silly impression when I meet clients from the West.

In Western Europe of course there is High & Mighty which do clothes for both fat and thin types - a customer base of laurel & hardy lookalikes - I fit the Laurel type - only taller. I was wondering if there was something simillar here.

Anyway thanks for the reply.

Try Voronin near Tolstovo, or TSUM.

I do it all the time Grin My significant other always chooses suits and shirts for me. However, I'd never go to a shoe-store with her, because i would end up having to wear those pointed pixie shoes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Thanks BritKyiv - but that would only make it more complicated as I would have to find a woman first... and in my current suit that is unlikely.

You misunderstand me - I have the cash and do not need a loan - I just don`t know where to buy a decent suit from at a sensible price.

Voronin is a good recommendation. My Dad always recommends him to everyone, the reason being he made a wedding suit for my Dad many years ago and it was PERFECT!!! Grin Grin
Anyway, have you thought of finding a good tailor in Kiev to have your suits custom made?
It might take more time then buying ready made but it will fit perfectly.

Joe

The loan was for if you go shopping with a Ukrainian woman. You'll see, one day Wink
