Too far from where I live!!!!!

If I was passing in that direction by car I would pop in but wouldnt make a special trip on public transport!

Despite the above comments by other posters if I had a car I would be using Auchan regularly!

It is located close to metro Petrivka. Isn't it close enough to go there without a car?

Swedish IKEA next in Kyiv perhaps? Hip hip Hurray for the new mega stores. Wold like to see more less expensive and good furniture in Kyiv. Need to replace all the old stuff that came with my rental.  Undecided

Dream on. IKEA have made so many enemies in Kiev they are struggling to find land. They keep barking on about Odessa(where Leningradskoe Schosse meets the ring road) but again nothing materialises. OBI will open on the ring road in Kiev 2009, and this year in Kharkov, Mariupol and Odessa(Stari Mikolavskoe).
Thanks for the update. Strange that they have problems finding land - there is plenty of it around Kyiv. I guess the local "mafia" don't want any more competition  Wink

Lots of land all over Ukraine but most of it is agricultural and cannot be bought by foreign companies plus to get change of use from agricultural to retail is nigh on impossible. The Kiev city administration is so corrupt that it doesn't auction land fairly. Thats why we have an election now. So the only land is on the secondary market where the owners think it's worth more than land on the MKAD in Moscow. They will get a rude awakening one day when the market drops out.

I wish AmStor would get here - modern stores, great little food court area with real waffles (American style), cheap coffee, decent baked pastries and such.  I hope they are indicative of the next wave of supermarkets for Ukraine.

Most of their expansion is East and South based. They are a Donetsk company with good links there. I hear they may have someting in Kiev soon. How is OKEI rated?

Wife and babushka like Okei well enough.  It apparently a 20 minute bus ride form my place bbut they like to go their slightly better than to Laravan which is only 10 minutes away.

Oh wait, update.  The bus that usd to run from Minska has been discontinued and now babushka has been going back to Karavan more.  Seems she would now have to go down to Petrivka to catch a bus there.  Shame.  Maybe a bad strategic move on their part.

Seems like the selection is a bit better, prices same or slightly better (at Okei) but now preference is for Karavan due to convenience.
