When you buy cigarettes you are warned Smoking kills. When you take out an investment you are warned your investment can go down as well as up. But when you put money in the bank does anyone say "by the way we could totally waste your cash and leave you with nothing" ?

Hopefully generalising. I sold my Uk stock investments a couple of weeks ago and banked a large sum into Barclays last week. I have to wait for it to clear before placing it in the mutual building society!

The usual month wait then.  Would it be an Irish mutual building society, guaranteeing your money?

Nice one, Keith. The choice of a MUTUAL building society is a good one. Check they are on the FSA register -
