If you are a UK citizen, to get one at the Russian embassy in Kiev you need to have a work permit for Ukraine and be registered. I can send you details of the agency that did it for me but bear in mind I have the aforementioned status.

Yes I am a UK citizen...work permits here in Ukraine are in the process of being sorted but not sure how long it will take. Be useful to have your agency details but it sounds like i should head back to London.

If Keith cannot help you, I also know an agent in Moscow who will sort it all out for you. It took 16 days for him to sort out my last one though (again 1 year multi-entry bus visa), so I hope you are not in too much of a hurry if you need to use his service.

You do not need a Ukraine work permit You will have to be here 2 weeks or be registered. There was an agency in Kiev that did quick registrations but they stopped a few months ago, VisaLux was their name. You will also need a Russian Letter of Invitation. The best place for an LOI (if not from an actual employer) is Liga Consulting in Moscow. Talk to Vadim. He's the best there is! http://www.rusvisa.org/The LOI takes 14 days to process, sometimes up to 21 days. Liga, and no other agency, has any control over that. They are issued by OVIR In the past you only needed an HIV antibodies test to go with th application, but they change that a few weeks ago. Now you need all the medical tests - AIDS, - Leprosy (Hansen's disease), - Tuberculosis, - Syphilis, - Chlamydia lymphogranuloma, - Cancroids' - Narcotics

As soon as my PA wakes up I'll send the agency details.

The medical test requirement has always been there but they waived all but the HIV antibody test. But on 15 September they started enforcing all the tests.
They have never required a Ukraine work permit for a Russia visa, but they do require a Russian Work Permit if you're applying for a work visa. In which case, they issue a single entry 90 day visa which is then converted to a 1 year ME by OVIR in Russia when you apply for the work visa

Hello, Now I will need to check dates and the type of visa, but I applied for a Russian Visa in Kyiv about this time last year and I got it in about 4 hours. I can only remember that I received an invitation from our Moscow office and then my partner called the Russian Embassy to see if we could bring the application in. I went down, spoke to a lady for about 5 minutes and then she said to come back at 4pm - that was it.
I was in complete shock as to how easy it was, as I usually need to use an agent when applying in London.
I am away in the UK at present and will get my passport back from the UA Embassy tomorrow, I will check the details and get back to you. I also need another business visa for Russia very soon so I'll be going through the process again.
Regards, Lee

Yes, for double the price you can get same day or 24 hour service. And the nice lady at the Russian Embassy still works there, but they changed the medical requirements. And also keep in mind the 90/180 rule that is now in effect as of a year ago

Someone told me there are very very few Native Private teachers operating now in Moscow now due to this 90/180 stuff, again another thing which has angered the locals as such services are much in demand (and well paid now) in Moscow. So they should be looking at their governments pig headedness with this new visa reime as the reason for the sheer lack of Native teachers

Yeah, I have a few friends who are teachers there and it's tough. Some schools will do the proper paperwork. Most will not. Native English teachers were always "off the books". I think the few I know who are still there will be packing it in soon. With the high costs of living in Moscow and the crap they have to go through for visas they're looking for greener pastures After almost 3 years it was the 90/180 rule that killed my working in Russia. I left for 4 months to do a consulting contract in Bulgaria, knowing I would have to renew my visa while I was there. Before I could renew they changed the visa laws. SO I couldn't go back because my average consulting contract was a minimum of 4 months.

I'm not sure with the new rules that an agency can get all the medical tests.
I think you might have to do them this time
