Bodyguards in skirts? A new business idea to protect the rich and famous in Ukraine? The latest security trend in Moscow is female bodyguards only.

Currently about 500 women (approximately 2 percent of the total number of bodyguards in Russia) are personal female bodyguards. They are usually paid not more than $1,500-2,000 for 15 workdays a month.

"Victoria Korchagina, former biathlon athlete, is now the head of the North-west department of the National Bodyguard Association. She was one of the first female bodyguards in Russia. She explains that there are no special secrets pertaining to female bodyguards only. Like male bodyguards, women trained to become bodyguards are taught to use any item at hand for defense or attack. This may certainly be even a hairpin. Victoria Korchagina also explained that shooting an enemy is an outdate trend. Today, killers prefer strong and fast decomposing poisons. But irrespective of the instruments that killers employ for an attack main goal of personal bodyguards is to always avert or anticipate critical situations. For this purpose bodyguards must not only be able to analyze any situation but also to understand the issue of security as a complex."

I think the statement above says it all - "shoot" your enemies. Hopefully not a trend for the more peaceful Ukraine. Still an interesting concept with female bodyguards since they are less noticeable copared to the traditional "Russian bear bodybuilder type" bodyguards.  Huh

The concept reminds me of President Ghadaffi who has only female bodyguards despite Libya being a muslim country. The female bodyguards are reportedly helping women's cause in muslim countries. Libya is considered the most controversial in the muslim world in this respect.  Undecided

In Moscow, there is only one special school training female bodyguards. Nice and smart women between 21 and 37 can be accepted there for training. The owner of the school, former security services employee Nadezhda Mikhailova says that people employing female bodyguards first of all insist that these women must be very attractive and demonstrate good intellect. If a man prefers a female bodyguard he does not want to have someone unfeminine by his side. It often happens that expectations of majority of clients wishing to employ a female bodyguard are too exaggerated. They demand this woman must be a slender model-like blonde having a driving license, being able to act as a personal secretary, speak languages, know some fighting techniques and handle all types of guns. The school of female bodyguards usually ignores such exaggerated demands of clients, and certainly takes into consideration those reasonable ones. This is one of the reasons why girls under 21 are never accepted to the school.

A market for this in Ukraine too?   Roll Eyes

And how exactly does a bodyguard stop the injection or particularly ingestion of a poison, male or female?
Having worked in parts of the world where I have been given these people, they are a visible deterant not the answer to an someone putting out a "contract" on you for want of a better expression.  Yes they are taught "J" turns and "U" turns in cars, arcs of fire, weapon handling etc, just like most British soldiers were who did VIP duty in Norhtern Ireland when it was active (thankfully common sense seems to be prevailing there now) and no doubt the "spook" agencies all over the world are trained the same and better. Lips sealed

In Nigeria for example they were a visible deterant against those who would kidnap any "white face" for $.  They did not however taste all my food before I ate, so an ingested poison would have killed me.  Is she trying to say the bodyguards taste the food etc to avoid their "clients" desmise.  Highly unlikely and it is she that has highlighted the ease of poisoning!

The crimanality in Moscow/St P I would imagine is much more "organised" than that of Nigeria and be much more "grudge or politically" (not necessarily formally politically) based against someone who would need a body guard.

If it is a deterant you want the a number of big "Russian Red Bears" is much more visible than a lady in a skirt.  Does she think she is Octopussy from the Bond films and making money from the insecurity of others?
Perhaps it is why they amount to only 2%.

I am sure that those in Russia (or anywhere else in the world) who need bodyguards are only to aware that if someone really wants them "removed", then "removed" they will be regardless of bodyguards.  Shocked

For a descrete occasion then maybe a lady is a popular option, but for a deterant I would think the more visible the better.  Wink

Just a suspicion and a comment.

Suspicion - high class hookers charging to be "body-guards"....wonder what the all night rate is for bodyguarding?  Weekly rates? Frequent Client discount card?

Comment - some of Moscow's restaurants were insisting that bodyguards had to stay outside the restaurants so the client's supposedly wanted ones that would blend in.  That was mentioned in the articles about that women bodyguard killed a month or so ago.

I'd think for those truly concerned, and not just hiring for show, that a mix of the obvious and discrete is best.   In Odessa, the night clubs are rife with "men in black" - and the hiring of bodyguards appears to be more of a fashion and prestige statement than anything else.  In that context, bodyguards in skirts might be quite fashionable.

If considering a business plan for this idea, offering bodyguards who can also cook would be a great special service.

"Our agents are physically fit, well-dressed, good looking, trained in seven styles of martial arts, experts with handheld firearms, proficient in electronic surveillance, and have received certification from the French Culinary Institute.  We offer the finest international cuisine with elegant carry-out service that's not just healthy, but guaranteed poison and radiation free.  Our Sunday special offers All You Can Eat for just $199.95 more than you'd get from any ordinary security guard.  But, WAIT!  That's not all!  If you use your credit card and order now, we'll offer you Twice as Much as You Can Eat, and a special A-Team pack of Wrigley's Double-Mint C-4 Gum personally autographed by Mr. T, himself..."

From what I have read from your posts etc. I can only imagine that you, like me, also had these people with you when in the Middle-East

Ha... they were physically fit, experts with firearms, and provided all the MRE's we could eat!   We both probably felt A LOT safer that they weren't wearing skirts!!!  That would be very, very wrong...

Do you live in Odessa, too?

I do  Smiley - the Odessa contingent on this site is small, Carlusha, Dazure (but not seen him post for a week of so), Campervan (when he's in Ukraine) and ourselves.   (Apologies to anyone I have inadvertantly missed - no offence ment  Wink)

Recently a very famous female russian, who had been trained as a bodyguard and had her own company supplying female bodyguards had her skull smashed and died while trying and failing to stop her car being hi-jacked.

Couldn't even protect herself, says it all really.

You are thinking about the Russian model who died defending her Porsche Cayenne from hijackers. She took active actions to defend her property so definately brave but should have realized material objects are not worthwhile risking loss of life over. Anna Loginova, did not intend to give up without a fight. After being knocked down by the hijacker she got up onto her feet and gripped the handle on the door of her car. The woman did not let it go even when the car tore away. The hijacker dragged the Porsche owner several meters before she released her hands. The woman hit her head on the asphalt road and died of a serious cranial injury.

She is the type of female bodyguards I would like to have watching over my cars, although I would have told told her to just open fire at anyone trying to steal my car. A good bodyguard thinks first about protecting others than herself, so perhaps she just acted on good instincts? In the US, Secret Service, FBI and the CIA are using female special agents. The same for the military. Don't forget that all females in Israel also serve in the military, but it is also a reason I would never date a woman from Israel.   Undecided  On the other hand I really liked the look of Libya's President Ghadaffi's troop of female body guards who escorted him on his most recent visit to Paris. They looked really smart and sharp Grin I guess it is good to be the king.  Undecided

There is a destinct difference in bodyguards who's role is to safeguard the life of their "primary" and security guards who look after property.

Allbeit in places like Nigeria, the same company may provide both services and indeed individuals may swap roles from security to bodyguard and vici verci, when on bodyguard duty their sole interest is that of the "primary" survival not the protection of property.  The protection of property falls to those on security duty.

Next time in Odessa I will bring my own female body guard who can also watch over my car when parked  Grin

That said, I noticed there are a lot of "security" guards watching peoples cars for a fee in downtown Odessa. It looks like they each have a city block or so. A good concept, although I guess they represent free enterprise and are more like parking attendants.  Smiley

The Odessa parking attendants are a scourge! They put obstacles in the street to prevent parking and then remove them for a fee to allow parking and "watching" the car. From our balcony, we have watched these obstacles move up the street getting ever closer to our building main entrance.

Soon we won't be able to park outside - another 30 metres and they're here!  Cry

I guess it is called free enterprise. What has been happening in Odessa for several years now will reportedly also start happening in Kyiv. It will no longer be possible to park for free on sidewalks.

I will bring my female bodyguard who specializes in BMWs to watch over my car. I like her attitude expressed in the poster below. End of argument, this car parks for free or else....
