Looking for a private tutor (strict yet patient)

Hello!

I am looking for a NATIVE English tutor for private lessons.

I believe that my English is strong intermediate, yet a far cry from advanced level.
My weak areas are SPEAKING (I have not spoken English for two years now and can hardly utter a sentence without fear of making a blunder!!!), PRONUNCIATION and LISTENING COMPREHENSION.

Initially, I would like to take a total of 12 classes (60 minutes each) in June and then see how it works for me. Though I would like to focus on business English, topics for classes may vary, from simple conversations to discussing news, politics, economics etc.

I offer a fee of USD 100 for 12 classes (12 hours).

Preferred hours: after 7.00 pm.
Preferred days: flexible.
Preferred location: my place (Obolon).

Seems to me that the level of English you just displayed in your post scared everyone away, haha! It is perfect!! If you would like to improve your speaking skills, why don't you just meet up with some of us and spend good times in a bar where the background noise won't interfere with you exchanging ideas and thoughts about not just business but all aspects of life?

Surely not many people here would object to meeting new friends.

the best way I improved my english was sitting with my friend Rodrigo (he is from L.A.) in beer gardens :-) I was better and better every day and we spend the fees for ... yes, for beer... tasty czech one

Putting it bluntly, anyone that is even half decent would be looking for a lot more than that, we have a saying in Britain "you get what you pay for in this life"

RJM, we have the same saying here and it is often true (though not universally true).
I thought that I have made it clear enough that I am on a shoestring budget (which is no wonder if you have to live in the Ukrainian high inflation environment). It has nothing to do with the Ukrainian mentality or the fact that my “Ukrainan ego” is inherently greedy. I agree that USD 8.00/hour is not much to offer, but that is what I can afford at the moment. For this reason, calling for decency would be irrelevant in this case. You sound like I want to steal someone’s knowledge of English and give only a meager 8 dollars in return. I am not the one to get my knickers in a twist over forum comments, but yours really upset me…

Yelena, your English is so good that there doesn't seem much that a tutor could teach you. Perhaps find a well-meaning expat, and agree to meet somewhere? Buy him or her a coffee (not from Gloria Jean's) or tea (not from Kofe Hauz!) and have a chat. Of course they will correct any grammatical mistakes you make, but you mentioned that for you needed speaking practice above all.

I am sorry my comments upset you, that was not their intententions.

I was only trying to point out that not many people who are teachers by proffesion would give up their time for that rate of pay. Most people I know who are decent teachers would be looking for $20 minimum to visit someones home and offer private lessons. I hope someone proves me wrong and does it for you but once again my comments were not meant as an attack in any way so I apogise that you took it that way.

OK, I do not know how relevant my suggestions will be but here they are anyway :

#1. I saw a couple of English language clubs advertised in the last issue if Kiev Post. Hopefully they do have a native speaker there in the club. So this might be an option. I am not sure if they charge a membership fee. But it is an option to explore.

#2. Again, I am not sure how viable this might be but ,I guess ,you could team up with someone else who wants to practice English and perhaps together you could afford to pay $20 per hour for a "group session".
