Hi everybody, first post here! I found this forum looking for online Ukrainian - English translation services but haven't found any which can help me.
In short, I have a half Italian - half Ukrainian acquaintance (I am Italian myself and writing from Italy, never been in Ukraina) who, with zero credit on the mobile, asked me to send an SMS to an Ukrainian number for her.
She told me it was to avoid having an argument with a person very important to her...

Out of politeness, I didn't press for more info, knowing that sooner or later I would have got its translation Grin   ...yes I am a very curious kind of person  Smiley

Thanks in advance folks!

Here is the text (this is how it looks on my PPC, I don't know if the strange characters are because of the Italian localization of the device): Priviet Mal@ iak cpravu? Pozdorovliaiy tebe z dnem narod*enniam... Meni dy*e *alko za towo ctalocia...Ia ne xo4y tebe vtra4atu...Ale zrozymiù ia ne znala na koho dymatu...Ia tebe dy*e liybliy...Ne zabyvai...Knopk@

You need to change your computer settings so that your PC accepts cyrrilic letters. I don't think anyone will be able to help you much until you do so and reposts the message.

First of all, TNX for reply.

As I wrote, that is how it looks on my Pocket PC phone and it is what I have sent so I guess it must make some kind of sense for the receiving person Huh

To further clarify, she wasn't with me, she sent me this SMS (we can send SMS each other for free) and told me to forward it to a number she gave. Now that you make me think about it, it's also possible that what my mobile shows isn't what she thinks it does... (she might have a mobile phone which can properly display Ukrainian characters) Huh

I know from looking at Google pages (when I tried to find an online translation website) that in Ukrainia they don't use the Roman alphabet but I thought that it was a sort of "translitteration" in order to be able to text each other with "standard" mobile phones... (I know such a thing -translitteration of non Roman characters words into the Roman alphabet- does happen since I have lived years in countries where they do that).

Sounds like you got good help already. If you decide to use a PC instead of your phone you should use Google Language service for translations. If you use Skype for VOI calling you can also send SMS from Skype and then be able to send translated messages in Russian to your friend. Good luck.

The text my friend gave me was meant to be sent by SMS, couldn't use a pc (not 100% correct I know...).

Tried that but it needs "real" cyrillic Ukrainian,it doesn't work with translitterated Ukrainian.

The recipient was a friend of a friend (from her description I wish she was mine though Tongue ) and it's a one-off request, the half Italian - half Ukrainian girl (who is my friend) lives here in Italy.

And, BTW, TNX for the good luck wishes... Cheesy
