I am a final year BA Russian undergraduate at Exeter University, England.

I will move to Kyiv next summer, and am starting to look for a accommodation and employment. My Russian is already very good - I have just returned from a year-long placement in Yaroslavl and Tver, Russia - and will have improved after a further year's study.

It will be my fourth trip to Ukraine, as I have close friends in Luganskaya oblast'.

I am in the process of translating my resume into Russian, and finding a Ukrainian teacher so I am better prepared for when I arrive. I would be very grateful for any information, about companies in Ukraine who are looking for young and bilingual staff. I will be pleased to send my CV to anyone who contacts me.

Thankyou,

Jonathan

I wonder if you have found anything. My son is thinking about an internship in the Ukraine so I've visited that Employment Fair today and talked to a few companies like KPMG and OTP Bank bur the results are not really encouraging. Maybe it's because his majors are International Finance and Banking.

Tim, it may be better to contact Jonathan through his email address above. I am not sure whether he reads the forum any longer although I am pretty certain he continues to work in Kyiv.

International Finance and Banking is also very useful outside of banking. Our daughter uses her similar skills working for a large company that imports fish, shell fish, crabs, lobsters and so on for canning, bottling, sushi, shashimi and whatever else you can do with fish. Expertise in this area is very useful within the larger organisations.

For an internship, it may be better to cold call around those companies you feel may benefit both your son and the companies themselves.

Good luck.

Jon is not living or working in Ukraine right now.

If your son speaks Russian and will be in his Junior or Senior year, you might be able to find something.

If you are not part of the solution, you must be part of the problem.
