Dear Editor I am not interested at all in American-bashing, I am part of those Europeans who P.Roth defined "enough culturally sophisticated not to think all Americans are dumb and pro-Bush" (dont remember the exaxt phrasing). Also I have good American friends, I am big fan of American literature and I try to be as objective as possible.
Having said that it is clear that if a whole continent (Europe in this case) thinks that BillClinton has committed NO abuse, this should lead the American population to some self-questioning/analysis rather than portraying others as bashers.
So Ecocks since it was your president and it was a question of "domestic jurisdiction" next time refrain from complaining about the country you currently live in and pretending to impose your "high american ethical standards" to the rest of the world. because we also do not give a damn thing if a US employer cant write an ad where he/she requires no Blacks or ugly women. Luckily Europe is still not that sick.
Has anyone noticed how stylistically Moving's posts differ form one another …..I would say drastically ...You know what I mean?...It leads me to believe there are a couple of Movings operating there. Vera this was tried before and I have to disappoint you: behind Moving there is one person only. My writing style changes because life changes.

This thread is highly amusing! Who needs American literature nowadays if you can have Italian?

True, it is more amusing than the employment law discussion which it stemmed from. Let's see what's happened to it by the time I get into the office again tomorrow morning... but how about a new title and a fresh start now we're onto the sixth page?

In all seriousness, could Moving's stories be made into an Expatua blog, like mine? That way we could all have daily updates about his adventures, but only read them if we want to?
orMoving, you seem not to understand what this forum is. Click "forum" and read some past conversations - politics, food, business, travel, sport...... Expatua isn't a place to take swipes at members that have opinions which you don't agree with. Find a chatroom if you want to have a go at America or Clinton, there are millions of sites where you can exchange anonymous abuse.
or
It also isn't a place to boast about how 'easy' some Ukrainian girls are - there are a million more sites for that, sadly. I could do without that rubbish, and I'm sure Vera could too.
maybe "ban" is not the right expression better kick out from this forum
Maybe you didn't understand, Jon was suggesting that Moving get his own space on this website for his ongoing posting - like an "editorial column." It should be taken as a compliment, not being "kick[ed] out this forum."

Actually, the OP involved a sexist job posting which was subsequently pulled. So, boring as employment law might be, it was on track rather than a hijack.

I do not know if you are kidding mate or being serious (I am serious now by the way)... to call that ad SEXIST is just an overreaction. for the last time i invite you to accept that an employer MUST be free to set job requirements without having a bunch of UK/US citizens to call for a scandal. i will add a nice story, as i told they suggested to introduce the same policy in italy. i respond to an ad for a shop assistant and when i get there i am told "we are looking for females only". i ask him "why the hell you did not write it?" the dumb employer replied "our company guidelines forbid to state gender in the ad". Ecocks, I have wasted one afternoon for nothing

i dont know if i m out of topic.... we have lot of problems in Ukraine but sex discrimination is not one. The women's role is very important in our society and respected. just take a look at administration...90% of workers are women. Our prime minister is a woman... i do agree some foreigners oriented companies hire only beautiful women at desk ... but just in order to meet clients expectations

I m in bussinnes. Sometimes with foreigners. 95% of foreign businness men after 10 minutes of work conversation already tell me "how beautiful ukrainian girls are". 85% of them after a 45 minutes ask me where he can find some hot women for the night....
so not surprised at all if such "weakness" is used by local companies..

Just my 2 bob worth as I visit a lot of companies, western and local. Moving, BTW what was your ID on the Moscow expat site?

Yeah I was thinking exactly the same!!! It is definitely more of a local company thing than a foriegner thing but quite what experience Moving has of working in Ukrainian companies is very debatable in my eyes! i dont know if i m out of topic.... we have lot of problems in Ukraine but sex discrimination is not one. Ecocks, I have wasted one afternoon for nothing And I would have NO clue why you would think I was kidding since me and basically every other person on this board agrees it is a sexist ad which is what started the discussion in the first place. What planet have you been living on during this discussion? And, unfortunately for your opinion, more and more of the world agrees that employers cannot state these requirements in their policies and advertisements. Apparently you didn't even bother to click on and read the links? Both were discussing how Italy is changing from the attitude you put forth. Are you really Italian? As I said, it's a new millenium, get with the program. You need to work more on staying up on current events. Not the events in the US/UK but those in your own supposed country and the EU. If you wasted your afternoon that is your problem, you should have gotten a lawyer since, even in Italy that was illegal under the applicable EU Directive cited in the link.

pls repost enlightening link
Ecocks if you are happy that the EU is going as politically correct as US, well good for you
i see just problems in that though
fortunately, at least in mediterranean europe, most of the laws go unlistened or cheated...we do not have time to waste and we do not aim at perfection.
RJM, can you read? I have been to Moscow's companies, I know little about Ukraine
