I will drop the school pretty soon for different reasons
how much should i pay a private russian teacher considering i want to hire him/her for up to 4hrs a day?
really dunno how much i should offer...
now i pay 10euros per ac.hour and this is throught the school, of course jumping intermediares i expect to pay less
pls give me some figures, i would love then to post my job offer here if you think it is a good try
should you have yourself contacts for private teachers who are willing to take on an upper-intermediate student, let me know via PM
A.

As Russian is a "Foreign Language" taught in schools, and teachers in schools are underpaid, many teachers take on "private students". I would think about finding the "Russian Langauge" Teacher in a local school (your family with which you are staying probably know such a teacher if they have children). In a few weeks the schools close for 3 months and these individuals will be available 24/7.

this is actually what i was wondering
if i pay just 10euros per hours through the school, how cheaper can be without the school?
"my family" will be taking me to university soon, but really if any of you know some good teachers around let me know
have you got an idea of how much a teacher cost with no school working as agent?
thx

Moving,
After reading your post, I guess I would like to also suggest that you also pay what you can. You'll find that some tutors will only charge $5-6 per hour, which is absolutely nothing for an EU citizen to pay. Living in Ukraine, on a Ukrainian salary, sure, I wouldn't mind paying $7-8 an hour for lessons, but in your situation, I don't know that I would feel comfortable doing that, as you've been living on an EU salary, and like Pompey-Nik pointed out, these teachers are seriously underpaid, some making as little as $200-250 a month, or less. My advice for you, is that since you came here planning to pay someone 10 euros, and can afford that, well, pay what you can. I'm sure that those teachers would be more than grateful to you and would make sure that they did a good job for you so long as you make it clear that you do expect your money's worth. Just my advice.
Ray

sorry ray but the reason i am dropping the school it is because i want to stay longer, sudy more russian and so need to pay less
6-8dollars per hour it is ok to me
also do not get fooled to think that because i pay 10euros, the school pass onto its teachers 10euros
i doubt they even get half of that, so nothing change for them

For an English language program it would be normal for a teacher to receive half the basic billing rate for lessons arranged through the school.
Picking up a private teacher on a direct, cash payment basis, a good starting point would be half the going rate which would work out to approximately $7-8. About right for quality instruction.

My beloved charged $7 per 45 minute session in 1997/8. She reckons today ought to be double that for one-to-one lessons. However, in this case the students were her own pupils from the school and the courses were geared at improving the students' performance for the current coursework as set by the educational authority. Not quite the same thing, I grant.

So 5 X 1.56323 USD (today's exchange rate) = $7.82.
Sounds about right for a direct hire.
