Knowledge of IFRS typically means a CFO-level guy with experience of working for foreign companies. 2 grand is not that much then.

Yes, Moving, it is very boring because there is no sex involved! Sorry!

Not only boring but labour intensive modifying systems. It took nearly 3 years to revamp to the required standard  the banking system owned by a software house for which I was employed before retirement.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
why this person is so mad at me and always speak about sex?
I know I will be the one getting in troubles here sooner or later, but I love to show the all of you how a simple question of mine is turned into an ad hominen attack. Personally I just asked if learning that system is cool or not.

NO WAY!!!I cannot believe an accounting job post was diverted to discussion of Moving’s favorite topic. I think only Jon's puppy thread was spared of it.

How boring is accounting??? Can anything that is mentally stimulating be boring???
It is like MATH, once you GET is , it is NEVER again boring.

I tend to agree with you Vera - a good accoutant will always try to save you money by using the system to your benefit.  Should they achieve it, they will have the same "glow" of accomplishment in saving their client money as any of us do in doing a good job in our line of work(s).

A decent accountant can save you money through tax-deductables, charity right offs, advice on aquisitions (even better if they are making a loss for tax reasons) etc. etc. and what really makes them happy is when you ask them to get "behind" the numbers and see how the numbers were achieved in the first place.

Like you say V, if you know what you are doing and can do it with a degree of competency, work is not boring.

Just to play devil's advocate, it wasn't actually Moving who started the sex talk on this thread. Bad boy, Carl!

If you want a job where your clients will always be grateful to you, accounting seems a good place to start. I'm fortunate that my profession is also a hobby of mine - translating keeps my mind busy in the same way that chess, crosswords and sudoku do to others.

Rubbish, knowledge of IFRS is not rocket science, a normal accountant with the IFRS training can do this.

I really do worry about the level of some people on this board, maybe thats why I spend less time on here now.

And $2000 for an accountant is good in Kyiv, although many get more, just for being a normal accountant.

And there speaks a man who knows!!...............although I would personally place him as quite a way up the ladder from a "normal accountant"  Wink

I like your way of communication, I always use such bright examples to prove what this country can exactly do to aliens.

Coming back to the topic, you're absolutely right saying knowledge of IFRS is not rocket science, a normal accountant with the IFRS training can do this. You can even extend this approach to:
Knowledge of 18wheelers driving is not rocket science, a normal driver with the 18wheelers driving training can do this
Knowledge of neurosurgery is not rocket science, a normal surgeon with the neurosurgery training can do this
Knowledge of software architecture is not rocket science, a normal architecture with the software architecture training can do this
Knowledge of rocket science is not rocket science, a normal scientist with the rocket science training can do this

The problem is an employer often doesn't just have enough time to train an employee or doesn't have a proper employee or 998 other reasons you could imagine. And on the market there is a great demand for such specialist at the moment while US dollar is already weak and appears to be getting even worse.

Crickey - apologies as follows -

For starting sex talk when getting fed up with Moving .......... Sorry

For confusing IFRS with IAS. BK and Tim are correct, IFRS is a reporting standard with which I have not been involved. IAS, with which I had been involved for a few years related to INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS which is far from simple because the requirements meant wholesale changes to standards and to the accounting systems. So, again  ...... Sorry.

BK, being a banker, will appreciate the work effort required to change everything from loans and deposit accruals right down to the accrual method for discount instruments. Perhaps not exactly rocket science but one hell of a task requiring tight deadlines and much working through the nights.

SORRY
