Hi,

I'm currently in the US and plan to hopefully move to Ukraine in the next 2 years (sooner if the housing market turns around).  I need to save up a bit more cash and sell my two properties here.

My wife of almost 11 years is from Dnepropetrovsk.  She's actually Russian though.  Her Dad is a retired Army General.  We have a 4 year old daughter named Katya who is bilingual sometimes Roll Eyes

Anyway, we have an apartment and house in Dnepropetrovsk (DP).  The house is actually a Dacha but we've been upgrading it and will soon have the septic system setup with an indoor Loo!
I'd prefer we live in either Kiev or on the Black Sea in the Crimea(Near Sevastopol or there abouts...) but that depends on housing prices.  I've been looking around and they seem quite artificially inflated but I'm sure once on foot there my wife or one of our DP lawyers can find something cheaper.  I believe a some of the inflated price is due to targeting of foreigners.  Just my opinion...  Anyone else have thoughts on that?

I'll be living some on my two pensions plus my wife wants to work and has a PhD from the University there.  I still want to work though as I'm only 51.  We have a couple of friends that own factories there but I don't want to put my self in that sort of position of owing a favor to someone who has a cadre of bodyguards and black cars.  I suppose I could teach english some (private lessons?).  I'm presently the Director of IT at a law firm in DC.  It would be nice to find something in IT but I know most of the kids there are really good at it plus I'm not 100% Russian/Ukrainian fluent.  Maybe something with a Brit/Aussie/American company?  Anyone have any ideas about employment along those lines?

I've read some of the posts here already and it looks like a really good group of folks.

Thanks in advance...

Welcome matey  Smiley

Can give no real advise until you decided if your heading to the capital or Crimea but it sounds like whatever advise given now could well be "dated" by the time you arrive permanently anyway.  Undecided
