U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney will travel to Georgia early next month, the White
House said on Monday, a move that will likely be seen as an
effort to shore up support for the country after its war with
Russia.
Cheney will meet with Georgian President Mikheil
Saakashvili and also visit Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Italy
during his trip which will be begin Sept. 2, his office said in
a statement.

Georgia & Ukraine - read NATO support for entrance via a December MAP (Nothing is impossible - but highly unlikely).

Italy - read anti Ukraine and Georgia membership of NATO at this time.  Unlikely anything he will say will change their opinions, after all GWB couldn't do it earlier in the year.

Azerbaijan - read oil pipelines and Haliburton (check the pension - a few months and political retirement  Wink).

Just for you Packman (well not quite just you, of all the politicians in the USA on either side, Cheney is the one I dislike the most by a very very long way):

And the theme for his trip is...

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia".

The devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind: he was willin' to make a deal.....

Fits him perfectly  Smiley   Smiley

Funny Matt.

I can hear him now,

"Now, where is my fiddle?  Georgie!! Georgie! Have you had the fiddle out again?!?"

I'm partial to "Long Haired Country Boy" by the smae artist myself....
Quote
People say I'm no-good,
And crazy as a loon.
I get stoned in the morning,
I get drunk in the afternoon.
Kinda like my old blue tick hound,
I like to lay around in the shade,
An', I ain't got no money,
But I damn sure got it made.

'Cos I ain't askin' nobody for nothin',
If I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin',
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

Preacher man talkin' on the TV,
He's a-puttin' down the rock 'n' roll.
He wants me to send a donation,'Cos he's worried about my soul.
He said: "Jesus walked on the water,"And I know that is true,
But sometimes I think that preacher man,
Would like to do a little walkin', too.

But I ain't askin' nobody for nothin',
If I can't get it on my own.
You don't like the way I'm livin',
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

Instrumental Break.

A poor girl wants to marry, And a rich girl wants to flirt.
A rich man goes to college,And a poor man goes to work.
A drunkard wants another drink of wine,And a politician wants a vote.
I don't want much of nothin' at all,But I will take another toke.

'Cos I ain't askin' nobody for nothin',If I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin',
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

Well, he has started his visit:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7595259.stm

The top and bottom of it Oil, oil, oil, gas, gas gas (maybe a few extra Haliburton contract negotiations thrown in if he has time) Roll Eyes ...........oh and borrow another $billion from China to give to Georgia  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

We redraw the map of Europe to include Georgia (which it currently does not and should not - therefore allowing possible NATO and EU membership which would be precluded if we do not redraw the maps) because of an oil pipeline route  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
