The UK legislation allows the UK to prevent the travel of known football hooligans to foreign countries.

Gary Glitter aka Paul Gadd an internationaly known and convicted pedophile cannot be confined to the UK however due to the legislation as it stands.

Neither can he be tagged, jailed or stopped from approaching children in the immediate future:

Britain bans fox hunting, but you can still hunt the fox, it has a sex offenders register which can not be policed until after a breach has occured and someone fails to turn up for their annual registration, where they are and what they are doing for the other 364 days of the year.......who knows?  In the City of York (for example), it is still a by-law that a Scotsman can be shot with a bow and arrow from the city walls and on the last Sunday of every month a man can beat his wife on a street called Whipmawhopma Gate without prosecution  Shocked Roll Eyes

What on earth are the legislators doing ? - Instead of "Knee Jerk" legislation, create legislation which is thought through thoroughly, examine the existing legislature and update/delete/create what is really needed AND practicle AND create legislation which protects the public they have been put there to serve!  Angry

Its a crazy country....

Having just returned from a visit to the UK, I must say I am VERY happy to be back in Ukraine.

I tried to be positive about the UK and will always try to be positive, but its now like visiting my place of birth as a ‘foreign tourist’.

The majority of people in the UK dress very badly.
It was so easy to spot Polish people in shopping centers….they were the ones who dressed well in designer clothes and they looked cleaner too.

Just to give you some up to date feedback on prices. (per person)

Express train from London Heathrow to Paddington Station (Takes 15 minutes) = $30
Tube (Metro) from Paddington to Kings Cross Station = $8
Train journey – Kings Cross to Newark (about 1.5 hours) = $122
Taxi from Newark Train station to Hotel = $74
One night in Hotel in Newark = $236
Train from Newark to Edinburgh = $168 (return) BARGAIN
One night Hotel in Edinburgh = $240
Beer (one Pint) = $6
Chicken Sandwich = $7
Cup of Tea = $3.50

The first few days I had a real problem understanding some people in English (I had to ask my eldest daughter to translate from Bad English into English). Plus on the train to Edinburgh, I had the experience of sitting next to Mr & Mrs Glaswegian, most of the time I had know idea what they were saying to me in English, and coughing, spluttering, burping and farting was normal for them every few minutes. I was starting to get depressed.

On the return journey from Edinburgh, I had the experience of visiting the town of Doncaster (as the train did not stop in my home town) I visited a Polish Pub which had been reported in the newspapers for selling beer illegally. They had been supplied with beer glasses from Poland in half and one litre sizes. The local trading standards said they intended to fine the pub owners UKP 2,000 if they did not stop selling in litres and start selling in PINTS.

Plus the local market traders (open market) were informed by the local authority to stop SHOUTING in the course of their business as it was considered to be a health & safety hazard to customers. What a crazy country.

Service is a thing of the past in the UK. But a few things I did enjoy were:

1.   Traditional English breakfast (like most people only tend to eat these when in a hotel)
2.   Traditional Sunday Roast Dinner (also in a hotel/restaurant)
3.   Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport is impressive.

So happy to be back in Ukraine.
