This post is not solid, it serves only to *begin* putting out feelers to get a preliminary assessment of whether to proceed with a formal action plan.

The object of inquiry is the development of a business analyst team in support of a small, but established consulting group in the Odessa region.   Given Ukraine's market development and growing attraction of foreign interest, many Ukrainian businesses are seeking capitalization/foreign investment.  Very few of these actually have a legitimate basis to secure it as they are not likely to meet the standards and expectations of western investors.  The function of this team would be to go into these businesses and perform aggressive inspections to determine where they are, where they need to be, and what it will take to get them there.

The consulting group specified that it can provide a certified accountant, translators and transportation.  It's barrier to entry is a lack of individuals with western business experience.  Moreover, the sum of experience represented by the team would need to cover all elements of business operations - HR, Supply Chain/Logistics, Product/Service Evaluation and Competitive Analysis, Quality Control, Customer Service, Marketing, etc.

At this point, I am not associated with the consulting group but have friendly relations with them and like what they are doing.  I've had a few talks with the founder and he expressed his interest and encouraged me to consider to start thinking in this direction.  In that regard, I want to take some proactive steps in finding others who might be interested in this kind of activity and line of work.  So, really the interest is to see what kind of interest might exist knowing that the expat presence in Odessa is small, and not entirely interested in work in the first place.

My initial inclination is to think this objective may be overly ambitious; but at the same time think it is valuable to go ahead and start exploring the idea now to build up to a full-fledged team.  Moreover, there appear to be a number of actionable functions, especially in the way of training programs, that would be part and parcel to the process.

Realizing this is a long post, I will close welcoming anyone interested to contact me personally.  A resume is not necessary at this point, though welcomed.  Otherwise, detail your interests and provide a summary of your experience and areas of specialty.

Please understand, too, that this is very preliminary and that there is not likely to be a lot of immediate movement.  I'm always open to meeting in person in the Odessa area, if you feel more comfortable that way.

MW

I have a Degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Management, HND Business Management & Finance, member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), American equivilant is OSHA.  Also hold asbestos, design, working at heights quals, Radiation Protection Supervisor (Nuclear) as well as many others.

Russian is "workable" but my Ukraine is poor although understand about 90%.

Have 6 years Board of Directors experience and written policies for many companies to gain ISO2001 and ISO14001 as well as IIP (Investors in People).  Obviously all aimed at QA and QS to international standards  Roll Eyes

Cannot commit too heavily to anything at present, have my own little sideline here which is quite profitable and have interest from parties who are going to build the new Odessa airport (which won't interfere too much with my own activities) but as normal anything to do with money and beurocracy here moves extremely slowly so I may have time to spare.

Aside from the management skills (which are obviously broadly transferable to any business) I have several years of construction experience here in Ukraine and fully understand the beurocratic papertrails, land registry laws and construction laws (and associated paperwork) here.  I know all the bosses of the Ultility companies and the major archietects in Odessa.

It maybe too much of a niche for these people to have an interest and like I say I may or may not have the time that they would require me to give.  If I can help in any way though, please do not hesitate to let me know.  Smiley

Thank you Pompey-Nik!   An excellent profile with very strong depth and breadth; I appreciate the time you took in putting it together.  This is likely to move slow, too - so no rush or worries; that your availability would be relative to requirements of your activities is understood and respected.  This is a step above but basically in line with what I'm accustomed to, so I greatly appreciate your offer to help - and won't abuse it.
