Ah, takes me back to the years I lived in Moscow - I just never managed to find a street like that where I could get out of second gear due to the incredible amounts of almost stationary traffic.

Never take a private taxi when the driver has a large Mercedes or BMW. Once took a private taxi from Borispol to Kyiv and I have never made it so fast to Kyiv. The driver held a good 140km ++++ all the way in the BMW 740i, perhaps upset with me lowballing the fare    The best private taxis are the Russian cars, the drivers need the money and they drive properly. Also, stay away from cars with Russian plates. Once took a private taxi from Sevastopol to Simferopol and the car got stopped 4 times by traffic police because of the plates.
