Yeah best of luck Packman!!

Cheers for the call today, I will give you a bell on your return!!

Sorry folks...I had all good intentions.  I have a chance to see my daughter that has been hidden from me since October.  Gotta run this weekend to Putinland to see her.  I hope its not a hoax.

You be as rude as you want, I get plenty of practice people being rude to me seeing that I live in Kiev  Grin

Like water off a ducks back to me  Wink

I might have considered it if it was a different venue and someone I was speaking to today said the same, most people who have lived in Kiev more than a few years try and avoid these places with their clicky crowds and over inflated prices.

Agree with Packman, music is not the best thing if you want to have conversation with people.

Best of luck with the evening in any case!

RJM, thanks for the wishes, but in all honesty and without sounding rude, I did ask for opinions on the places to go. It is my first week here, so I can only go by recommendations or what I have seen on the streets. So far we had only two suggestions: Sunduk on Shevchenko and Golden Gates. If you are aware of much nicer places without 'clicky crowds and over inflated prices' where you 'might consider' meeting, please let me know and I'll happily meet there  for a drink.

As an update, I have not managed to book a table at Sunduk as the phone numbers I found on the internet/yellow pages are either non-existing or put me through to other places. So, I suggest meeting there at 7pm and just getting any table available.[/b]

Once we all found each other, reasonably well. No debauchery though!  Sad

how many people showed? anyway organizing the first one it isis always hard and as yuou said most expats there are w/girlfriend or wives so really do not care about meeting others in such situation

in Moscow (lived there 18months) it was quite easy to regularly organize such meetings

Hello,

Quite nice, I've enjoyed it...several people, several drinks, several mosquito's, but lot's of fun and life sharing about Ukraine and lawyers:))))

Happy Monday to everybody

There were five of us. Wives and girlfriends are more than welcome as I felt slightly outnumbered on Friday night.

You weren`t outnumbered at first Nina as you spent the first hour hiding in a corner inside Sunduk where no one could possibly see you.

However - it was great to meet you eventually and you Eugene and Mr Cuba .... whose name I have sadly forgotten.

In situations like these my younger brother used to put a red teapot on the table and tell people to look for that. Perhaps next time we should all dress up as charcters from the Wizard of Oz then we will be easy to spot. Can I be the cowardly lion please :-)

Have a great Monday afternoon all.

That's funny. We used to play that when I was at the University. It got a huge acceptation. We played with one policeman (or detective, or however it's called), but I'm not sure if this is the standard configuration. I didn't know there was something like a "club" here  Grin

I was not hiding! They put me there and told me I was not allowed outside. I guess they didn't want to scare off the customers. Red teapot/dressing up sounds like a good idea though.

Billy T - I up for this Friday, I'll start a new thread.

Eugene - I remember the days of the mafia game... Please let me know about the club!

Yes, there is an official "MafiaGame club" and they start the 4th tournament year. I met some passionate English speakers who want to play and get to know the organizers or the Russian/Ukrainian game...and they liked the idea to have a game in English at the season opening in end of August.

I will post a thread at "events" later this week with all the details.

p.s. for those who want to know more or remember the rules of the game, you can find them here:
