Has anyone been to Nirvana Lounge (Indian restaurant in Kiev) lately?
It is new and I have never been there but me and my friend are considering going there this weekend.
If you have ,what was your experience? Would you recommend it?

As someone who was brought up not many miles from the curry metropolis in UK that is Leicester I am a massive curry fan but after one visit to the awful "Himalaya" on Kreshatyk Ive never been to another Indian eatery here in Ukraine. The food was so bland and mild compared to what we get in UK.

Any feedback would be welcome Vera, also has anyone been to the the one by Rodina Mat by Druzhbi Narodiv, I cant remeber the name of it.

Thats the one Vera!!! Thanks!!!

Yes I once had one of the 40gr Business lunches and it was dreadful in terms of quality and quantity and have never ventured there again!!!!

Whether the regular menu is any better is anyones guess!!!

Generally I agree but its good to get the fingers yellow now and again. The last curry house I went to was in the Maldives and very good it was, but it's a long way to go for a chicken madras and chappattis. Moscow has some half decent ones and I'm there tomorrow. Hmmmmmm?

I have to admit that i doubt I have EVER had "good" Indian food. Never understood the attraction that the Brit culture has had for it, just chalked it up to nostalgia over the lost empire. It has always seemed to taste like what was/is served at Himalaya.  Been twice, it was simply something a bit different from the usual fare to eat.

Keep us all posted if you find a GOOD place.

Maybe I'll drop in on Leicester since I doubt I will be in Maldives anytime soon and Moscow seems to be fading and dropping fast on my destinations list.

Leicester is OK, been to a few there myself but BRADFORD is the place to go, mainly it has to be said for Pakistani food. You have to eat curry in a real curry house in the UK before judging it Ed.

The company I own in the UK, the head office is based in Leeds - ideal place for Indian food from Bradford on a night out, or China Town in Manchester for Chinese.  Smiley

Well, maybe Wizz Air will get into action on a decent London route from Nikolayiv and we'll hop over if I can get Irina a UK visa someday.

As I reflect I am certain I have never had quality Indian food since I have never taken a week to regain the color in my face.   Huh  Don't even think I have had a curry-induced blush.

Yeah iits very much am acquired taste, I once took an American to an Indian and he didnt know what hit him, I doubt he will ever go back  Grin

Also Birmingham has some extremely good "balti" places, particularly in the Sparkbrook area, You cant miss it as the area resembles Bangladesh at rush hour!

Well, I lived in India for some time. Absolutely in love with culture, food....you name it...everything Indian!!! So I get this craving from time to time. I would cook , but it is hard to get all the spices here in Kiev.  Smiley Smiley

Your local market may have a supplier of all spices. Look for the Uzbeks. Explain you want Indian lamb, chicken or whatever and they will mix the relevant spices together with the curry.

In Odessa's Privoz market, it is a joy to watch how swiftly the Uzbeks make up your particular mix, taking a little of each relevant spice at a blistering pace without spilling anything!

Sorry Florian, somehow I missed this message of yours. Unfortunately for me and because my friend insisted on another place we ended up going somewhere else. So I do not know if it is good or not. The name really is intriguing to me. A kind place I would like to go.
