I really gotta say I think it's Lieberman..or maybe Pawlenty...but my gut tells me Lieberman..
Of course I was way off on that Biden thing so what do I know...
Oh and are we speaking of the same Colin Powell who stood there and lied to the entire world about the "yellowcake"?...Sure he treid to moderate the administartion, but in the end he rolled over and lied for them... Taking nothing away from his years of distinctive service, in the end he swallowed his integrity for politcal expediency IMHO...
I hope it is LIEberman. This would really annoy the right-wing nutjob portion of the republican base. He's pro-choice and while he is the only Likud party member of the US Senate, the base would sit out this race with him. Romney has is pluses in Michigan...he's real home state and in Nevada with a high Mormon population...in the southern bible belt his Morman religion would be another reason for the base to sit this one out. The smartest choice for him would be Pawlenty. Not known and doens't annoy any of McCain's base. But we'll see. My money was on Romney till McCain forgot how many houses he owed. Now two rich guys might not look too good. In this case Pawlenty is the man.

See they'll forgive him the pro-choice position exactly because of his Likud membership...These bible belters are quite fond of the chrsitian zionist movement...I have seen ads in the states where they solicit money to help jews in Russian and E Europe to resettle in Israel, because obviously, once all the jews are returned to Israel we get armageddon, YAY!...Tom Delay, Falwell, Pat Roberston and a whole slew of right wing nut bars are Christian Zionists...Google it if you feel like making your brain bleed

Yeah, I am a leetle bit surprised myself. Trivia: Popular Alaska Bumper Sticker - "Coldest State, Hottest Gov." Note: Palin competed for Miss Alaska in her younger years.

Sorry Ed, I know you are a republican, you must be reeling on Sarah Palin being selected. I am sure 80% of the right wingers are puking tonight and for the next 4 years. Obama's speech saying that McCain had very poor judgement, and just doesn't get it, just got a whole lot more credibility. What a blunder! Cafferty on CNN just said the game's already over. McCain thinks that he will get the disgruntled Hillary voters? Uh... one problem... Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton... ever... in this lifetime. Hey Packman, you are probably doing some great toasts over vodkas, maybe "to McCain and his great wisdom in VP selecting" and laughing your ass off.

With any other possilbe VP contender, the election would have been won by an extremly small margin due to how polarized USA is. McCain lost his mind, possibly he needs to go to Mayo clinic, and have a brain scan done, and check for a possible stroke. It would have to be massive to make such a poor choice. Now I think Obama wins by double digits, if not a blow out!

Although...
I have to say that it is actually very possible that Palin is far beyond Hillary. Seriously. And it isn't just partisanship speaking. The following could be said of thousands of minor elected officials, corporate executives, military personnel, factory workers, well, the list goes on a long ways, so as you read this substitute the name and details of your best boss, professor, co-worker, family member, whatever, along with either party (or no party), any state, any sex, again, whatever. Sometimes we need trying times to provide evidence of great leaders, but that doesn't mean they weren't already walking among us.
Consider that her record, to this point at least, is pretty darn good. Sure there is an investigation but, take a look in Hillary's past before ranting that an investigation is a career killer (questionable suicides, questionable commodities trades, influence peddling, etc.) and remember that no one knows what may turn up yet. As was mentioned the other day, there is/has been a real dearth of leaders in both parties. Palin is from Alaska, big deal, many leaders come from humble backgrounds (remember Abe Lincoln and the log cabin) and there are unknown numbers of truly great leaders who provide their great leadership from within the confines of their geography, organization, ambitions and other circumstances, so really, she may well be far beyond the leadership of a "mere" Hillary Clinton.

John McCain just commited polital suicide, unless you turn on fox news... all the rest of the networks are getting hammered with tens of thousands of e-mails (record amounts of feedback) as to how stupid, and how damaging this to the republicans. From both sides.

Not arguing just posting an interesting poll sequence (Note the number of votes cast and no it isn't from Fox Network): Did McCain make the right choice for his ticket? Yes 46% 256,019 No 35% 195,344 I'm not sure 19% 109,638 Total Votes: 561,001 Whose running mate impresses you more? John McCain's 54% Barack Obama's 46% Total Votes: 537,374 I am not pushing it but keep in mind that many people over-personalize the amount of power of the individual in these situations. He isn't elected yet and a LOT of people had to sign off on his decision. Doesn't mean it's the best but he can't get up and say, "I have selected as my running mate, Alessio, AKA, MOVING, a well-known connoisseur of fine women in Eastern Europe and the recent recipient of a considerable amount of free publicity in certain foreign venues....." Candidates get their chain jerked a lot and each party is spedning millions on consultants, pollsters, PR, marketing, etc. so they're not going to just let him play pin the tail on the donkey in picking a running mate.

Ed, I don't argue with you, I respect you! even with the fact that you are still so red, after all of the total crap that the Bush administration has laid on everyone. Wait until Monday, as most people don't even know about McCains choice for VP until tonight. By Monday, I think the polls will be quite different. I really still wish americans would have listened to Ron Paul, he was a terrible speaker, and as bad in front of a camera, but the only candidate that stood for total government reform, and for all of the right reasons, which is the only way to really fix this F###***** government debacle, maybe compared to living in pergotory from economic oppression, due to our government demanding to be the world police without the money to do it! so they sold out several generations of citizens to China for funding Bushes war mongering... just not right!! . See? Ron Paul is a republican, with great policies, but not electable. I am an independent, and call a spade a spade.

561,000 poll votes is my point there though (over 620,000 now) - I was surprised at the number. Will be interesting to see if there is a shift in trend as the weekend progresses.
And, remember, George, Dick and Karl are not the only Rep Party members. So not all of them/us are whatever label you want to hang out there, anymore than all Dems cheat on their wives based on JFK, Teddy K. and Bill C.
Oh, and I know we are discussing not arguing, I was just being sure you didn't take tossing that poll up there wrong.

Ed, good point! you could have added John Edwards tryst to the list of promiscuis politicians, suprising to many, as some political pundants stated that he was not in to women. Hey, Kudos for John Edwards, he actually does women! Do the Democrats have a stronger libido or something? Maybe it is the fact that the republican candidates are so old the only F****** they get into is appropriating big money for their cronies... EG Bush/Cheny/Halliburton and it's subsiderie companies that are now based in Dubai... largely so they will never have to submit to subpenas and testify to congresshave and arre, and still will make world class money from the Iraq debacle, and not pay any taxes to USA, and they . Talk about outsourceing BIG business! Cheny style!!! God, I just want to sell my home, and be in Ukraine... far from a perfect government, but not nearly as screwed as Bush has done to american citizens for many years to come, in only 8 years!
