Exhibition of modern icons by Sky on the Earth, Ivan Honchar Museum (Ivana Mazepy 24), 19 December – 20 January at 10.00 – 17.30
If you think there is nothing new in icons but the same ancient patterns created under strict church canons, you are wrong. Icons should be relevant and easy-to understand for those living today, say Mykholayiv-based Sky on the Earth group of artists, who are exhibiting 40 works made in various traditions and techniques of both Ukrainian and European icon-painting schools.

Ukrainian Open 2013 figure skating competition, Palace of Sport (Sportyvna Pl 1), 18–21 December

Organised by the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation, this event aims to revive the athletic tradition of Ukrainian figure skating and strengthen the positive image of Ukraine worldwide. In the lead-up to European and world championships, as well as the Winter Olympics held in Sochi on 6 –23 February 2014, this competition serves as a qualifying round for 12 lucky winners to advance.

The voice of Patricia Kaas becomes a medium this evening through which the legendary French chanteuse Edith Piaf can come through. The programme couldn’t be more 40s and 50s French chanson, with 24 songs of The Little Sparrow’s featured, including La Vie En Rose, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien, La Foule, Padam Padam, Hymne L’Amour, and more. Adding her own je ne sais quoi, Kaas will take you on a journey through the streets of Paris – get ready for the ride.

Cheese & wine Holiday

This year Lviv hosts the ‘Cheese & wine’ Fest for the 4th time. Foodies are invited to participate numerous testings and master-classes. For example, last time visitors drank 15,200 l of wine and mulled wine and bought more than 7,500 t of cheese and 8,353 of  cheese ‘horses’.

The wide range of the relevant products of both local and foreign brands will be available in the Fest market.

‘Molodist’ film Fest

43 years old is definitely respectable age. The legendary annual international film fest in Kiev has an extensive contest program as well as out-of-competition film shows one. Traditionally all of the films are on original languages, so don’t miss a chance to enjoy the holiday of the quality contemporary world cinema.
